Those working for the preservation and improvement of quality of life in Florida through 1000 Friends of Florida include planners, attorneys and community activists.  Current President is Charles Pattison.  1000 Friends of Florida’s founder and chairman emeritus is Nathaniel Reed.  Florida Department of Community Affairs Secretary Tom Pelham has done much work for the organization too, receiving their Bill Sadowski Award, which each year is given to a public servant whose work “exemplifies the strong sense of vision.” Pelham himself had shown “visionary leadership promoting growth management, sustainable development, and protected rural and natural lands in Florida.” Some of the volunteers involved in working for the organization include: Joanne Davis, Megan Weiss, Kathleen Morris and Dan Martin Pennington.
