CURE was founded by Susan Axelrod and two other mothers in 1998 as they became more and more frustrated with the feeling of powerlessness to protect their children from the devastating effects of their uncontrollable seizures as well as the severe side effects of their medications. Together these women have spearheaded intense efforts at education and research to finding a cure for epilepsy and until the cure is found, improved drugs and other treatments for this illness.
